Protocol version. Version 0 indicates an unstable protocol that may change without notice between releases.

This constant is the compatibility gate for serialized types in this protocol. #[non_exhaustive] does not protect wire compatibility: a peer on an older version fails to deserialize an unknown variant. Adding a variant to a serialized enum (e.g. WriteSource inside Notification::DatabaseWrite) is therefore a protocol version bump, not a backward-compatible addition.
